In addition to Dr. Fishman’s clinical expertise, he is an experienced researcher and has a PhD in physical chemistry and neuroscience from Stanford. He was the founder and Director of Stanford Ophthalmic Tissue Engineering Lab. Having been involved in cutting edge ophthalmic research, Dr. Fishman also offers informational “research consults” on emerging ocular therapies including Stem Cell Transplantation and Artificial Retinal Prosthesis.
While at Stanford, Dr. Fishman was awarded one of the first Stanford Bio-X research grants for his work on the Artificial Synapse Chip and founded the Stanford Artifical Retinal Prothesis project in the department of Ophthalmology.
