This is a short video snippet of synechiae after angle closure glaucoma. Glaucoma patients often suffer from several mechanisms of DryEye. Iatrogenic causes of dry eye are too often the culprit and prostaglandins (Latanoprost, etc) are one of the greatest offenders. Through their role in vasodilation, Prostaglandins are also involved in inflammation and this is where dry eye can be a exacerbated. For many dry eye patients , a laser procedure like selective laser trabeculoplasty (slt) may be a good option to lower the load of inflammatory eye drops . However, It’s a tough problem and it’s important to have a thoughtful conversation with your ophthalmologist to weigh all options .
