Remove that “pea” from my eye!

Concretions are tiny little “micro pea” sized deposits in the conjunctiva of the eyes. More precisely (from the EyeWiki), they are “degenerating epithelial cells and proteinaceous secretions [and lipids (oils)] from conjunctival glands. This cellular debris becomes trapped and can undergo calcification.”  It is an often underappreciated source of discomfort and irritation.  Even an isolated concretion can be a source of foreign body sensation. Unlike in the literary fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, many people (not just a Princess) have sensitivity to concretions which are often missed unless the eyelid is flipped. As demonstrated in the video snippet below, Dr. Fishman shows removal of several concretions with a 30g needle.
