This video shows a nice example of treating a hordeolum (also known as a stye) by first pre-treating the eyelid with a Mibo heating pad, then gentle expression, and finishing with curettage of the gland with a corneal spud. Hordeolums aka “styes” are infections of the glands in the eyelid margin. Internal hordeolums are infections of the meibomian gland. These internal hordeolums can evolve into a chalazion (a scarred hordeolum or lipogranuloma). External hordeolums are another type of stye and are infections of the gland of Zeis.
